Gozio machine investment signals move into new markets for Rodmatic

Rodmatic has made a major investment in a bespoke Gozio rotary transfer machining centre as part of its progression into new markets. The company is set to take delivery of the new machine in late 2024, with production set to begin in early 2025.

Currently in development through a collaborative process between engineers at Rodmatic and Gozio, the automated, fully CNC driven machining centre is capable of producing a large volume of parts, at a rate of one every three seconds. This means it is able to produce 200k components every five days. With the capacity to operate on a “lights out” basis seven days a week, i.e. virtually and with minimal intervention, the new machine will further accelerate the pace at which Rodmatic serves its global customer-base.

While the machining centre’s first job will be to produce fluid power connectors, it will also develop parts for other industries, including building, horticulture, automotive and consumer products. It will be supported by specialist engineers from Wickman UK, which has a long track record of supplying and maintaining high volume production machines. The purchase will complement the other Wickman machines at Rodmatic’s Reading manufacturing facility, from where the company provides CNC mill-turning and CNC high volume transfer machining services to industries such as fluid power, medical and marine.

Brian Steatham, Chair of Rodmatic, said, “Our investment in the new Gozio machine demonstrates our commitment to meeting the needs of diverse markets around the world. As well as enabling us to maintain the high standards for which we are recognised, the purchase demonstrates our commitment to ongoing development and innovation. We are proud to work with Gozio to develop this bespoke machining centre which will play a critical role in supporting Rodmatic’s ambitious business goals for 2025 and beyond.”
